Wulff A theory of condensed matter which is not based on the conventional energy of free, so-called degenerate particles is applied to the condensed elements of the #periodic_system . This yields laws relating the #electron_energy of the single atoms and the density of the condensate which allow conclusions regarding the #electrical_conductivity and the #chemical_valence . Application is also made to the problem of the #work_function of the electrons (Austrittsarbeit) . Finally the theory reverts to its thermodynamic origin. In this context a new general pressure function based on the #virial_theorem is given. This function can be used, in particular, to calculate the compressibility of metals as well as the characteristics of stars, especially of dense stars.
